A short route that needs careful timing
Moving materials from Dubai to Sharjah is a short journey on the map, but timing decides whether it takes minutes or hours. Nafees Transport plans each run around peak traffic and truck restrictions on the corridor, so loads arrive when your Sharjah site is ready.
Dubai and Sharjah share a border, and many people live in one and work in the other. That makes the roads between them some of the most heavily used in the UAE, especially in the morning and evening. For heavy vehicles, the corridor's rules reflect that pressure.
Truck rules on the corridor
- Emirates Road towards Sharjah: the RTA introduced a truck ban during the evening peak, 5:30–8:00 PM, between Al Awir Street and Sharjah, effective 1 January 2025.
- Dubai's 2026 restrictions: from 1 October 2026, trucks are banned from 6 AM to 10 PM on Sheikh Zayed Road and Beirut Street and in the residential areas of Al Mizhar, Muhaisnah and Oud Al Muteena, with peak-hour bans on Airport Street, Oman Street and Damascus Street, according to the official announcement. The announcement states that Emirates Road is exempt from this decision.
Several of the restricted residential areas sit on the Dubai side of the border with Sharjah, so they affect the last stretch of many Dubai routes. Because rules on this corridor have changed more than once, we confirm the latest position before each dispatch.
Our approach to Dubai–Sharjah runs
- Confirm the site window – when your Sharjah site can receive the load.
- Work back to departure – choosing a time that avoids the evening peak and Dubai's restricted roads.
- Secure the load – short journeys still involve braking, turns and stop-start traffic.
- Communicate on the way – so the site team knows when to expect the truck.
What moves on this route
- Construction materials for Sharjah projects.
- Steel and rebar on trucks and flatbed trailers.
- Bulk loads, often as several runs for one job.
- Industrial materials for Sharjah's factories and plants.
When several short runs add up
Because the route is short, projects often need several loads in a day or a week. Planning them together – rather than booking each separately – avoids trucks meeting at the site gate and keeps supply flowing. A project logistics partnership sets up that kind of programme.
Beyond Sharjah
The same corridor continues north to Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah. For deliveries within Sharjah, see transport in Sharjah.
